Q: What is Assess Now?
A: Assess Now is a formative literacy assessment which helps teachers determine each student’s instructional reading and writing level, areas in need of improvement, and growth over time. The purpose of Assess Now is to collect information about reading and writing behaviors to inform and drive instruction.
Q: How long does it take to implement Assess Now in my classroom?
A: In general, it takes 20 minutes or less to conduct an assessment with each student. Some parts of the assessment may be conducted with a small group or whole class of students.
Q: What are the benefits of Assess Now?
A: Assess Now is quick to administer, informative, and data-driven.
Q: How does Assess Now differ from other assessments?
A: Assess Now takes less time per student than other formative literacy assessments. The "What Next" portion of Assess Now is also unique. It provides teachers with instant teaching strategies based on the particular needs of a student, group of students, or class.
